As you may know (or not), October is breast cancer awareness month. Many companies support the awareness effort. Buying their pink-colored products get donations sent to the cause. If you watch sporting events, you may have noticed the pink accents on gloves of football players or pink tones or stripes on race cars.
It’s the month to be made aware that 1 out of 8 women get diagnosed with breast cancer.
In 2011 over 220 thousand women were diagnosed with breast cancer. That comes out to over 600 a day. (Approximately 2,000 men were also diagnosed in 2011).
It’s scary. And even if it seems that these numbers don’t affect you, you’d be surprised how many people you know that have been impacted by this situation.
One way you can help the fight against breast cancer, (which is generally, the fight against cancer itself.) is by chowing down on Yoplait Yogurt or one of several participating General Mills products like Honey Nut Cheerios, Green Giant, Progresso, Nature Valley, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker and Bisquick!
If you’ve noticed, some of the lids or boxes have codes on them.
Over at SaveLidsToSaveLives, you can submit your codes and each code will have a 10 cent donation contributed for it. And the process will donate up to $2.5 million in donations if enough folks chime in.
Here’s what the website says:
Starting in September, more than 20 General Mills’ brands will carry pink Save Lids to Save Lives® lids. For each pink lid received and each code redeemed online from select Yoplait products by June 30, 2013, General Mills will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, up to $2,500,000.
It takes very little effort to submit codes. But, what’s more, if you don’t have the time but have the lid codes, drop them off in the comments here and I can submit them for the cause. I’d be more than happy to help out.
Thanks for coming by. You all rock for chiming in for the fight against cancer.
