The Power of One Against Breast Cancer

Despite the fact that October is over, breast cancer awareness does not go away.  Breast Cancer is still out there affecting 1 in 8 women every day.  And Yoplait Yogurt is still leading the charge against this cancer!

-

Breast Cancer Pink RibbonBEFORE YOU LEAVE THIS post… just take a quick glance at this small section…  and see just how many people this actually affects:

Once my family was involved in this new battle, it was amazing how many folks either directly or indirectly via a family member have experienced the pure fear of being confronted with cancer.  It’s that pervasive in our society.

I may have chatted with 30 people over the last few months and maybe 5 folks were not somehow affected.  That’s what “1 in 8″ means.  That it’s nearly everywhere.

Breast cancer can affect 1 in 8 women200,000 women are diagnosed each year.  That’s 547 women a day.  Or 22 women an hour.  You do the math… how many women are in your life?  Whether you know it or not, you know someone… and it’s probably someone how supports the cost.

– OK… if nothing else, thank you for reading that snippet.

-

Normally, you don’t go to work and say, “Hey, how about that breast cancer thing!” and strike up conversations.  It’s only when you are in the middle of this fight for yours or someone you love, life, that you realize that so many around you seem to have been confronted by this disease.  Because now, you have reason to broach this subject.  A subject that some folks think, if I don’t talk about it or address it, it won’t come lurking in my doorway.

-

But there are still ways to address the battle against breast cancer, or albeit, cancer in general and Yoplait Yogurt is one tiny way.  That’s because they’re still donating a small amount of money from each lid, or lid code, that they receive, towards the fight against breast cancer.

-

Yoplait Yogurt products with the pink lids are one way to help fight this battle.  And you the consumer and can help in one or both of two ways.

You can mail the pink lid to an address.  Or you can open your Yoplait Yogurt and check out the underside of the pink lid.  There, you will find a code of some sort.  Then head off to the website and do your small part.  What it does is that by redeeming lids by December 31, 2011 will benefit breast cancer research and outreach programs in your area.

The online process asks for

An email address,
then your lid number(s),
your zip code (To focus your contribution to your region) &
Bam, you’re done.

It gives you a chance to ‘dedicate your lid’, ie, your story.  Right now, I’m not quite there yet.  But then when you fire up
Then they fire off a confirmation email to the email address you supplied.

You click the link, and you’re done…

Sure, it’s a bit of work, but it’s for a wonderfully good cause in the fight against breast cancer… which culminates in a fight against any cancer.

-

I’ve been eating a lot of yogurt these days.  Maybe you can pitch in with a yummy snack and a code redemption at

www.SaveLidsToSaveLives.com.

-

My header image explained:  Because all it takes is one act, one dollar or just one moment to help contribute to the fight.  There are millions of web surfers.  Each taking just one tiny deed can make the difference… if you’re already committed to another personal cause of your own, I completely respect that.  But if you have a free moment, by all means, one tiny act be anyone is appreciated by all.

Thank you!

why do you make it so complilcated to sign. I’ve gone thru 4 save lives and haven’t found the right one yet

Donna J. Earnest December 15, 2011 at 2:35 pm

I have participated each year in the pink lid project. Why, beginning this year do you have to make it so cumbersome for the participants? Reading the codes itself requires a magnifying glass for us older folks. Just let us send in the lids as we have done in the past and make the contribution to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Your new procedure is discouraging people.—-Thank you for allowing the comments.

Donna! You can still mail the lids in if you want. The online process is just an extra way to get a little more money donated to the cause.

I have been saving Yoplait lids for some time. Is this program still on?? Please inform me, hopefully I can enter and send them to your attention, still. I recently lost my aunt to liver cancer. Thank You

Sincerely,
Mark Olszewski

Bruce Simmons April 21, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Mark,
the program for the breast cancer donation lids ended, because they needed the “lids by December 31, 2011.” Cancer came into my family too, and all you can do is donate to whatever worthy cause you see fit, if possible.
Bruce.
