Your Past Does Not Make Your Future [Thoughts]

Did you know that what you’ve accomplished or not accomplished in the past does not affect your future?

It doesn’t, really.

Sure, you may have just come up with a grand idea for your company to cut some costs.  But once they implement it, then what?  If you do nothing else, that’s the last time they’ll think of you.  It will be the last time you get a bonus.

No, even though you have that successful image, it won’t help you next month.  You can’t rest on your laurels.  You need to keep making strides towards an end goal.  And more than likely, if you have the mindset to ponder changing how your company works, you’ve probably already have a plan.

But sometimes we sit on our butts and lament our failures from our past.  And then we focus on them and somehow, make the decision to support those failures and do nothing to change them.

What do I mean?

Some folks never got a degree.  And then they lament about it and while lamenting, do nothing about it if they’ve come to the realization that having a degree would have helped.

5 years down the road, they’re still lamenting it.  They seem to be in the habit of lamenting it.  But had they decided 5 years back to do something about it, well, that would have been 5 more years of school and probably had that degree by now.

But they’re in that rut of not thinking they can make change happen, and what the heck for?

Instead of taking any action, they’ve found excuses to stay put and not change things.  They’ve fulfilled the prophecy that says “We are what we focus on.”

All big results happen one step at a time, with patience, decision and knowing your outcome.  Knowing you will achieve your outcome.

Now you know!
